Bed bugs are reddish brown insects found mostly in bedrooms where they suck blood from people when sleeping. They are not easy to spot as they hide in bed joints, seams, and on mattresses.

Bugs are resilient creatures and can survive months without feeding even in freezing temperatures.

They feed by quietly piercing the skin of the host, without the host noticing. They feed for around 5 to 10 minutes until they are fully turgid. After feeding they rush back to hiding.

Most reliable signs of their presence are: physical spotting and positive identification of the insect, blood on bed sheets or presence of their eggs and faeces on seams and bed joints.
